Gir National Park

Gir is a protected forest landscape associated with the conservation of the Asiatic lion. Its wildlife and birdlife are the main reasons to visit, but a safari should be understood as an authorised nature experience rather than a guaranteed animal encounter. The precise entry session and route need to be confirmed before the surrounding journey is arranged.

Discover Gir National Park

Gujarat Tourism distinguishes the forest safari from Devalia’s interpretation zone. They are different visitor products and should not be described as interchangeable experiences. Gir’s habitat supports more than its headline species, so time spent observing vegetation, birds and other animals can remain valuable even when lions are not seen.

Places to explore

  • Authorised Gir forest routes

The safari landscape includes wooded hills and wildlife habitat, with access governed by the official permit and visitor system.

  • Devalia Interpretation Zone

The managed interpretation area provides a distinct wildlife visit separate from the broader forest safari, with its own booking arrangements.

Suggested sightseeing plan

Use this as a starting point. Adjust the sequence to your interests, access arrangements and local conditions.

  1. Suggested sequence: confirm the authorised forest visit before fixing nearby travel commitments.
  2. Consider Devalia only as a separately selected experience, rather than an unannounced substitute for the forest safari.

Planning your visit

  • Use the Gujarat Forest Department’s official booking channel and verify the exact product, date, gate and session.
  • Do not promise sightings or assume that a road transfer includes reserve admission, guide services or a safari vehicle.
