Dooars
Dooars names a broad foothill region, not one town or a single national park. Its destinations include Gorumara and Jaldapara, with rivers and settlements between them. Choose the part of the region that suits your interests before selecting accommodation; staying in one forest area does not put every reserve immediately nearby.
Discover Dooars
West Bengal Tourism presents Gorumara as a rhinoceros and forest landscape, while its regional itinerary treats Jaldapara and Jayanti as a different circuit. Reserve visits require their own arrangements. Moving between bases is also separate from time spent observing the forest, and particular animal sightings can never be guaranteed.
Places to explore
Gorumara National Park
This protected forest destination supports rhinoceros and other wildlife; visits must follow the reserve’s current access and activity arrangements.
Jaldapara National Park
The state itinerary treats Jaldapara as a separate forest base, making the exact reserve important when arranging a stay or excursion.
Jayanti River area
Jayanti appears as a scenic extension of the eastern Dooars circuit rather than an automatic component of every Gorumara visit.
Suggested sightseeing plan
Use this as a starting point. Adjust the sequence to your interests, access arrangements and local conditions.
- Suggested start: organise the stay around one confirmed reserve base and its permitted activities.
- Move to another Dooars area as a separately planned leg, allowing time for travel as well as observation.
Planning your visit
- Choose the reserve and authorised activity before finalising accommodation or transfers.
- Do not assume that every forest sector operates on identical dates or has available entries.
