Pune

Pune combines Peshwa-era landmarks, later civic history and green spaces within a large modern city. Shaniwar Wada and Aga Khan Palace represent different chapters of that story. Parvati Hill adds a temple setting and a view across the city, so the most useful itinerary balances buildings with an outdoor stop.

Discover Pune

The main sights are not all in the same neighbourhood. A heritage visit works better when you select a small group of sites and allow for city travel between them. Hill-station excursions such as Lonavala belong to a separate regional plan rather than a casual addition to every Pune day.

Places to explore

  • Shaniwar Wada

The historic fortified residence is associated with Pune's Peshwa heritage; its surviving spaces help explain the city's earlier political importance.

  • Aga Khan Palace

This palace offers a different architectural and historical setting from the older city's fortified heritage and deserves a deliberate museum-style visit.

  • Parvati Hill

A hilltop temple group and city viewpoint provide an outdoor counterpoint to palace and old-city sightseeing.

Suggested sightseeing plan

Use this as a starting point. Adjust the sequence to your interests, access arrangements and local conditions.

  1. Suggested sequence: begin with Shaniwar Wada and nearby old-city streets, then choose a second heritage stop.
  2. Keep Parvati Hill for a clear-weather visit when the group is comfortable with the walking involved.

Planning your visit

  • Allow for walking and steps if Parvati Hill is included; a vehicle drop does not remove the climb.
  • Check the current visitor arrangements separately for each heritage property rather than assuming one common schedule.
